Foul smell of gas plant leakage disturbs GB citizens
Plant given seven days to fix pungent odour and leakage or face legal action and permit cancellation
Gilgit-Baltistan Environmental Protection Agency has issue notice to SNGPL plant for the pungent odour of gas leakage.
Gilgit-Baltistan Environmental Protection Agency (GPEPE) has issued the strict notice to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). This notice was issued on the the complain of local residents, who have told that the gas leaking from plant has disturbed many people.
According to notice, continuous gas leakage is dangerous for health and surrounding people are concerned about it. GBEPA told that this issue is against the Gilgit-Baltistan Environmental Protection Act 2024, which should be considered as soon as possible.
Agency has issued 7 days notice to solve the ongoing issue. If the issue will not resolve according to the request then the NOC of the plant will be terminated and legal action will be taken against them.
